Social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, posted a video on Tuesday in which Bobrisky purportedly admitted to bribing certain EFCC officials with N15 million to have money laundering charges against her dismissed.
In response, the EFCC summoned both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to address the bribery allegations involving its officials. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede has also initiated an immediate investigation into these claims.
However, on Wednesday, Bobrisky labeled the viral video as “fake,” asserting that she did not pay any sum to the anti-corruption agency and maintained that she had served her prison sentence.
Additionally, a well-known rapper seemed to corroborate part of VeryDarkMan’s assertions in a warning letter directed at the activist.
In light of the ongoing accusations and counterclaims, the House of Representatives has opted to investigate the allegations against both the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS).
VeryDarkMan has arrived at the Assembly complex accompanied by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, and is currently presenting his case before the House of Representatives Joint Committee investigating serious corruption allegations against the EFCC and NCoS.
Bobrisky’s attorney, Averosoghene Omuvwie, along with representatives from the EFCC and Correctional Services, is also present in the committee session
Nevertheless, when asked to speak, VeryDarkMan responded: “Today, I will not say anything because an invitation was given out to me and Bobrisky. But he is not here.
“I don’t see why I will be here and he is not. So I won’t say anything, but my lawyer will.”
The social media influencer and socialite was released from incarceration on August 5, 2024, after serving six months for the offense of naira abuse during a party.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully obtained a conviction against Bobrisky on April 5, with charges consisting of four counts related to the misuse of naira.
Upon his release, Bobrisky encouraged Nigerians to adhere to regulations and respect the law.
