Nigerian artist Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, popularly known as Blackface, has expressed a desire for a reunion of the now-defunct music group Plantashun Boiz.
Blackface, along with 2Baba, formerly known as 2Face, and
Faze, were integral members of Plantashun Boiz, which disbanded after their
members pursued solo careers.
Established in 2000, the group parted ways in 2004 but had a
brief reunion in 2007 to release an album.
In various interviews, Blackface has alleged that 2Face
played a significant role in the group's breakup and has claimed that 2Face
appropriated his hit song, "African Queen."
Recently, Blackface took to Instagram to share a nostalgic
photograph featuring the trio.
He also accompanied the post the question: “‘To be or not to
be?’ @fazealone @official2baba @blackfacenaija @plantashunboizofficial, why
not?”
He encouraged supporters to participate in the initiative,
highlighting that "strength lies in unity, not in division."
“#plantashunboiz The question now is “To be or not to be?”
@fazealone @officialzbaba @blackfacenaija @plantashunboizofficial and why?”
Blackface asked.
“My people oya make una talk put mouth for this matter! We
are on a mission for world peace and it’s not a small-time thing! Unity is
strength and not division Let’s go champs.”
Since 2015, Blackface has consistently confronted 2Baba
regarding the 2004 hit "African Queen," which he asserts he authored.
In 2017, he accused 2Baba of "sabotaging" his
career within the music industry.
However, last year, Blackface made a gesture of
reconciliation by requesting that the "African Queen" artist forgive
him for his "wrongdoings, whether intentional or unintentional."
He stated, "It is time for us to progress to the next
level. I want everyone to be aware of this. It is time to put aside all the
past issues."
