Bank of America has appointed Johnbull Okpara, the former Chief Accounting Officer of Citigroup, to the same position, as indicated in a memo obtained by Reuters.

Okpara, who left Citi earlier this month after nearly four years, will succeed Rudolf Bless, the long-standing accounting chief at Bank of America.

He is set to join the company in December and will collaborate with Bless during a transition phase that will extend into 2025, according to a memo distributed last week by Alastair Borthwick, BofA's Finance Chief.

During this transition, Bless will evaluate his future career plans, the memo noted.

"Johnbull is a seasoned professional in our field, having held senior positions that emphasize corporate governance, strategic and financial planning, regulatory oversight, compliance, risk management, and expense management," Borthwick stated.

With a career that spans over three decades, Okpara has held significant roles at firms including Morgan Stanley, American Express, and Ernst & Young (EY) prior to his tenure at Citi.

He will report directly to CFO Borthwick.
