WIMBIZ and the Nigerian UK High Commission have formed a partnership to enhance trade opportunities for women-led businesses.

Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ) and the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom have formed a partnership to promote trade opportunities for female-led enterprises.

In a statement released by WIMBIZ Executive Director Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, the partnership was formalized during a courtesy visit to the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.

Discussions during the visit emphasized the critical importance of women’s leadership and economic inclusion in achieving sustainable growth.

The WIMBIZ delegation, headed by Board of Trustees Chair Bisi Adeyemi, included prominent members such as Co-founder Bola Adesola, Trustee Aishah Ahmad, Executive Director Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, London Conference Planning Group Chair Rabi Isma, and Vice Chair Caroline Popoola.

Bisi Adeyemi conveyed WIMBIZ’s commitment to fostering the growth of Nigerian entrepreneurs and expressed interest in collaborating with the High Commission on initiatives aimed at supporting export-related endeavors.

“Our robust network of female-led businesses across various sectors is strategically positioned to capitalise on international trade opportunities between Nigeria and the UK to foster prosperity in both nations,“ she stated.

She also advocated for enhanced female representation on international corporate boards, highlighting the reservoir of qualified and board-prepared women in Nigeria.

Bello Jaye, speaking on behalf of the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, expressed firm endorsement for the involvement of women in trade and investment endeavors.

The Nigerian High Commission is dedicated to assisting Nigerians and endorsing advantageous schemes. We are keen on fostering investments and trade between Nigeria and the United Kingdom and are willing to work together with your organization and its members," he stated.

Jaye commended WIMBIZ for their twenty years of commitment to promoting women's concerns and revealed intentions for an awareness-raising forum to highlight recent UK trade initiatives.
