During the Paris Olympics on Friday, German athlete Yemisi Ogunleye achieved a remarkable victory in the women’s shot put event, securing the gold medal with an impressive throw of 20.00 meters on her final attempt.

Ogunleye's outstanding performance outshone New Zealand's Maddison-Lee Wesche, who recorded a personal best of 19.86 meters on her fifth throw.

The bronze medal was awarded to Song Jiayuan of China, who achieved a throw of 19.32 meters. Ogunleye's previous accolades include a silver medal at the 2024 World Indoor Championships and a bronze medal at the European Championships held in Rome earlier this June.

Unfortunately, the United States experienced disappointment, with Jaida Ross finishing in fourth place, while her teammate Raven Saunders did not progress beyond the initial three throws.

Additionally, Gong Lijiao of China, a previous gold medalist in Tokyo, silver medalist in London, and bronze medalist in Beijing in 2008, finished fifth in this year's event.
