In a pivotal effort to enhance the insurance industry in Nigeria, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, the Commissioner for Insurance and CEO of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), visited Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, the Managing Director and CEO of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), at the NSITF Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

The discussion centered on identifying collaborative opportunities between NAICOM and NSITF to increase insurance penetration throughout Nigeria. Both executives highlighted the significance of integrating conventional and social insurance to maximize the sector's contribution to the nation's economy.

Topics of interest included the sharing of data and analytics to enhance the precision and effectiveness of insurance services, initiatives for capacity building and training to bolster the skills of both organizations, and the development of awareness and advocacy programs aimed at educating the public on the value of insurance.

A key outcome of the meeting was the decision to form a joint committee dedicated to fostering collaboration between NAICOM and NSITF. This committee will aim to leverage the insurance sector's contributions to national development, ensure compliance with insurance regulations, and stimulate the growth potential of Nigeria's insurance industry.

In discussing the visit, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin emphasized the importance of this partnership in fostering a more inclusive insurance landscape. He remarked, “Our alliance with NSITF represents a strategic move to fully leverage both traditional and social insurance mechanisms in Nigeria.
