The Federal Government has urged legal professionals, capital market regulators, and financial specialists to assist in enhancing the regulatory framework governing the capital market.

During a one-day awareness seminar organized by the Investments and Securities Tribunal (IST) for judges, lawyers, and law students in Abuja, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, made this announcement.

The Minister underscored the significance of a strong capital market for the economic growth and development of the nation. He pointed out that the seminar aimed to raise awareness regarding the IST's function in addressing capital market disputes.

IST Chairman, Amos Azi, emphasized the tribunal's commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent capital market. He noted that the establishment of the IST was a response to the necessity for an effective dispute resolution mechanism within the sector.

A notable aspect of the event was the inauguration of the IST’s Kano Zonal Office, a state-of-the-art facility intended to improve the tribunal’s operations.

Both the Minister and the IST expressed confidence that these initiatives would establish the tribunal as a prominent authority in capital market dispute resolution, both domestically and internationally.

By collaborating with stakeholders and broadening its operational scope, the IST seeks to bolster investor confidence and contribute to the comprehensive development of the Nigerian capital market.
