Emirates airline has announced that it will not be allowing passengers who are transiting through Dubai to Beirut.
Emirates Airline of the UAE has released a travel advisory indicating that passengers transiting through Dubai to Beirut on August 1 and 2 will not be permitted to board due to the ongoing unrest in Lebanon.
However, travelers commencing their journeys in either Dubai
or Beirut will be allowed to proceed, as stated by the airline. Emirates has
recommended that customers reach out to their booking agents or the nearest
Emirates office to explore rebooking options.
Several airlines have canceled flights to Beirut starting
Tuesday, as Lebanon remains on high alert following an attack on the
Israeli-controlled Golan Heights over the weekend, which Tel Aviv attributed to
Hezbollah, a claim the group has denied.
Additionally, a recent Israeli strike on a suburb of Beirut
on Tuesday evening, aimed at a Hezbollah official, has further escalated
tensions. Israel asserts that it eliminated military commander Fuad Shukr,
although the militant group has not confirmed his death.
Greece’s Aegean Airlines and Germany’s Condor have suspended
flights to Beirut until Thursday, with Condor also canceling its flight from
Dusseldorf on Tuesday.
Air France and Lufthansa Group carriers, including Swiss,
Eurowings, and Lufthansa, announced flight cancellations on Monday. Numerous
other airlines have also suspended, delayed, or canceled various flights.
Lebanon is preparing for potential retaliation from Israel
following the strike on Saturday that resulted in the deaths of 12 children and
teenagers.
