Renowned actress and United Nations Ambassador, Halima Abubakar, has emphasized that her primary focus is on supporting individuals with disabilities and children in Nigeria and across Africa.

Through her Halima Abubakar Foundation (HAF), she recently provided assistance to over 2,000 disabled individuals and children in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, by donating essential items such as food, wheelchairs, crutches, and other forms of relief.

Abubakar highlighted that for many years, HAF has been dedicated to aiding numerous individuals in need, and she is committed to expanding these efforts, assuring that corporate social responsibility initiatives will persist throughout Nigeria and Africa.

Furthermore, she expressed her intention for the foundation to collaborate with relevant agencies and authorities to combat the discrimination faced by people with disabilities and to empower them to achieve their aspirations.

"The experiences of many individuals living with disabilities are profoundly moving. While some were born with disabilities, others have become victims of preventable circumstances. I’m glad that most of them are not giving up on their dreams, and it is our responsibility to assist in making it a reality. Indeed, there’s an ability in disability."

“The Halima Abubakar Foundation outreach is prepared to extend its tentacles to every region in Nigeria, and some parts of the continent where we have more vulnerable people living with disabilities,” she said.

The Halima Abubakar Foundation's Appreciation Outreach commenced on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the PWD Emir Palace in Karonmajigi, FCT Abuja, attracting over 2,000 beneficiaries.

During this outreach, the esteemed actress and philanthropist distributed wheelchairs, crutches, food items, shoes for students, mats, kettles, children's clothing, and various other relief supplies to those in need.

This charitable initiative represents Abubakar's commitment to giving back to the community, especially in light of the current challenging economic conditions in the country, and she assured attendees that this would be an ongoing effort. The event was organized by Ambassador Chris Odey.

The Emir of Karonmajigi, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad, who attended the event, expressed his appreciation for Abubakar's generous actions, praising her as a woman of substance who is cherished by the community. He encouraged other celebrities to follow her example.

Among the notable attendees were Muhammad Datani, Sagir Ibrahim, Naziru Muhammad, Adamu Dando, James Lalu, and representatives from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

Halima Abubakar, who is an Ambassador of Peace, said “I felt really loved by the turnout and the fact that I was able to put smiles on the faces of these people. But this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Almighty Allah, my fans and people like Kingsley Mike Azonobi of Domak Group, Millicent Ugwueru of House of Mimie, Divinchy Collections, my Instagram fans and some anonymous donors.”

Abubakar hails from Kogi State but was born in Kano. She completed her primary education at Ideal Primary School in Kano before pursuing a degree in Sociology at Bayero University, Kano.

Additionally, she serves as the CEO of Modehouse Films, a production company dedicated to creating films and providing opportunities for emerging talent to earn a livelihood.
