Kanyinsola Ajayi, the newly-crowned Nigeria men’s 100m champion, is aiming to break the 10s barrier in the event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Ajayi qualified for the Olympics based on his ranking and is
set to compete alongside Favour Ashe and Godson Brume.
However, Brume's participation is uncertain due to an
injury. Ajayi achieved his season’s best and new personal record of 10.00s at
the Luzern Athletics Meet in Switzerland in July, a time he is eager to improve
upon.
Making his Olympic debut, Ajayi expressed his excitement,
stating that becoming an Olympian has been a dream since he started athletics.
He is determined to maintain discipline and believes he can
achieve a sub-10s time in Paris, trusting in his abilities and faith.
Ajayi's achievements in his debut NCAA season include
winning the South-Eastern Conference (SEC) 60m title and securing a third-place
finish at the NCAA Championships.
