First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited has announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors.
Mr. Ademola Adebise, a prominent figure in the Nigerian
financial sector, and Mrs. Olufunmilayo Adedibu, a highly regarded lawyer with
extensive experience in legal practice and banking, have joined the board.
Their appointments as non-executive directors have received
the endorsement of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), highlighting their
qualifications and expertise. Adebise, a veteran banker with over thirty years
of experience, previously held the position of Managing Director at Wema Bank
Plc.
He brings significant knowledge and proficiency to FCMB and
has recently been appointed by the federal government as the Chairman of the
Board of Directors of Family Homes Funds Limited.
His career encompasses various areas within the financial
industry, including technology, risk management, and strategic planning.
Adebise has also occupied key roles at several notable
Nigerian banks and non-banking financial institutions, such as the legacy
Chartered Bank, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc, and Accenture, a
global consulting firm. He currently serves on the boards of AIICO Insurance,
AIICO Capital, and Duchess International Hospital.
Adebise holds a B.Sc in Computer Science from the University
of Lagos and an MBA from Lagos Business School, combining technical skills with
business insight.
He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Bankers and has
participated in executive programs at esteemed institutions, including the
University of Cambridge and Harvard Business School.
Adedibu serves as the Group General Counsel and Company
Secretary for FCMB Group Plc, contributing approximately 32 years of
professional experience since her graduation.
Of this, 29 years have been dedicated to various sectors
including Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Risk Management, Banking
Operations, Insurance, and Compliance. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from
Obafemi Awolowo University, a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of
Lagos, and a Barrister at Law (B.L) qualification from the Nigerian Law School.
Her legal career commenced at the law firm of Chris
Ogunbanjo and Co, where she gained substantial expertise in litigation, company
law, as well as Copyright and Patent Laws, prior to her transition into the
banking sector.
Additionally, Adedibu has undertaken leadership and
management training at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business
School, Wharton School of Business, Queen’s School of Business in Canada, Lagos
Business School, and has participated in Euromoney's Loan Documentation and
Advanced Loan Documentation Training in New York.
She holds membership in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)
and the International Bar Association (IBA).
Additionally, she is a Life member of the Institute of
Directors (IoD) and an Honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of
Nigeria (HCIB), as well as Toastmasters International. Furthermore, she serves
on the Board of CRC Credit Bureau Limited.
The inclusion of Adebise and Adedibu on the board of First
City Monument Bank is anticipated to enhance the leadership of the organization
and support its ongoing expansion within the Nigerian market.
