Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has responded to the theft allegations that emerged in February 2024, in which she was accused of stealing gold valued at ₦90,000 from a marketplace.

In a discussion with media personality Timi Agbaje, Anjorin firmly rejected the allegations, emphasizing that engaging in theft is beneath her dignity.

She highlighted the implausibility of the accusation by noting that the gold in question was actually valued at ₦91,000, while the market price for a gram of gold stands at ₦150,000.

Furthermore, she remarked on the diminutive size of a gram of gold, which is significantly smaller than a grain of rice, thereby questioning the feasibility of stealing such a minuscule item.

She said,”Let’s first establish the fact that we’re talking about ₦91,000 gold when a gram of gold was 150,000. A gram of gold is less than a grain of rice so how can you go into the market to steal something less than a grain of rice, a single rice?”

Ms. Anjorin voiced her strong objection to the accusations, describing them as “ridiculous”

She provided a clarification of her stance, stating:

“I’m a certified jewellery seller, I sell gold and diamonds. I am also a certified fabric merchant so how can I stoop so low to go to Eko Idumota to steal a gram of gold? Something that is less than a grain of rice? That is ridiculous. I am not a thief, I will never be a thief. I am too straightforward and too disciplined to become a thief.”

On February 5, 2024, a viral video surfaced showing an individual, referred to as “Anjorin,” in a shop. In the video, Anjorin appeared to be avoiding being filmed and moved to a less visible location.

A crowd gathered, and a woman’s voice can be heard stating that Anjorin did not commit theft.

Subsequently, Anjorin utilized social media to assert that they were framed by a person they identified as “Shekpeteri.”
