Renowned music executive and CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, shared his strategic approach to music releases. He explained that he intentionally avoids scheduling the release of songs or projects by his artists on the same day as prominent artists like Wizkid or Asake.

During a podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo, Jazzy expressed concerns about releasing music on the same day as the duo, describing it as a potentially detrimental move.

Wizkid and Asake are widely recognized as highly successful artists within the Nigerian music industry, particularly in the current streaming era.

Don Jazzy said: “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song].

“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”

Mavin Records boasts a roster of talented artists, including Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy.
