West Africa LNG CEO to Speak at MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2024

Mr. Cem Hacioglu's participation in the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power conference is anticipated to facilitate the advancement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) development initiatives within the Republic of Guinea-Conakry.

West Africa LNG CEO Cem Hacioglu has been confirmed as a speaker at the upcoming MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2024 conference and exhibition in Dakar, Senegal, from December 3-4. As a leading provider and distributor of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and natural gas fuels services, West Africa LNG has played a pivotal role in unlocking Guinea-Conakry's gas-to-power potential, thereby contributing to the transformation of the country's industrial, mining, and infrastructure sectors.

West Africa LNG is a specialized provider of customized solutions for the design, construction, and operational management of LNG receiving terminals, production plants, regasification and pipeline infrastructure. In April 2024, we were pleased to receive approval from the government of Guinea-Conakry to proceed with the construction of an LNG terminal at the port of Kasmar.

West Africa LNG's $3 billion Guinea LNG project is anticipated to play a pivotal role in catalyzing the development of the nation's mining industry. Encompassing the provision of a comprehensive LNG receiving terminal, a liquefaction plant, and an export terminal, this mega-project holds significant potential for the country's economic growth. Initiated in September 2019 subsequent to a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, the project will be strategically situated at the port of Kasmar on Guinea's northern coastline.

The project will also include a 1,900 MW gas-fired power plant, which will be utilized to provide energy for the proposed alumina refineries and facilitate the large-scale development of alumina processing. Guinea-Conakry holds the distinction of being the second-largest producer of bauxite globally, serving as the primary raw material for alumina production. Currently, the country accounts for approximately 25% of the world's total bauxite production.

The development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) network in the country is a strategic response to government incentives aimed at nationalizing mineral processing value chains. This approach enables the country to capitalize on domestic mineral commodities before exporting them. Additionally, as part of the MSGBC region, Guinea-Conakry possesses significant potential to access substantial oil and gas reserves. This presents opportunities for economic cooperation and collaboration within the region. Such regional collaboration fosters knowledge sharing, resource pooling, and expertise exchange among member countries, leading to joint ventures, investment partnerships, and regional development initiatives.

Consequently, Hacioglu’s participation in the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2024 conference is poised to facilitate the expansion of Guinea-Conakry’s energy sector, thereby capitalizing on the nation’s substantial resources for the betterment of its citizens and the broader region.
