Kigali has been ranked third on the list of preferred African cities for travelers in 2024.

As indicated in the World’s Best Awards survey conducted by the esteemed travel publication Travel + Leisure, with the participation of over 186,000 discerning readers, the capital city of Rwanda, Kigali, has secured the prestigious third position in Africa, following the captivating cities of Marrakech in Morocco and Cape Town in South Africa.

As per the recent survey conducted by Travel + Leisure magazine, Kigali has been ranked as the fifth most preferred city in Africa and the Middle East by their readers. The city secured this position after Marrakech, Cape Town, Jerusalem, and Dubai.

The Inventory encompasses contemporary metropolises as well as some of the world’s most ancient religious pilgrimage sites and centers of cultural and creative activity.

Fez and Essaouira in Morocco were ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, in the top ten list, followed by Tel Aviv in Israel, and Luxor and Cairo in Egypt.

The cities were evaluated based on various criteria, including notable landmarks, cultural attractions, culinary experiences, hospitality of the locals, retail opportunities, and overall cost-effectiveness.

Kigali, which ascended four positions in the 2024 rankings, is characterized by Travel + Leisure voters as an aesthetically pleasing urban center with amiable and accommodating inhabitants.

Kigali is a remarkably clean and progressive city, as described by a voter. I felt secure while exploring the city on foot. There is a diverse range of culinary options and exceptional coffee available.

The capital city of Rwanda, Kigali, made its debut on the esteemed list of 10 most favored cities three years ago. In 2023, Kigali secured the ninth position, surpassing only the Jordanian capital, Amman.
