Patrick Doyle, a renowned Nigerian filmmaker, recently shared his insights on Tems’ achievement in winning the BET Award in the Gospel category.
Renowned Nigerian filmmaker, Patrick Doyle, has expressed his belief that the entertainment industry is under the influence of negative forces, citing Tems’s unexpected win in the Best Gospel category at the 2024 BET Awards as evidence.
A secular musician named Tems was presented with the ‘Best
Gospel/Inspirational Song’ accolade at the Black Entertainment Television (BET)
Awards.
The vocalist received the award for her 2024 release ‘Me
& U’ at the event held on Monday at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los
Angeles, United States.
Tems emerged victorious in the category, surpassing
prominent gospel artists such as Kirk Franklin, Cece Winans, and Erica
Campbell.
The triumph of Tems left the prominent gospel musicians who
felt deceived in a state of astonishment.
In response to the recent controversies, Doyle in a Facebook
post advised gospel singers to refrain from seeking validation from the
entertainment industry establishment.
He wrote, “I feel the pain of mainstream gospel artists who
feel slighted that an evidently secular musician, Tems was awarded for best
gospel song.
“That said, I believe it is about time that committed
Christians should stop seeking validation from fickle institutions like the
entertainment industry mafia which by the way is in the grip of Satan.”
