The Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, has been praised by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, for the implementation of the Tertiary Education Research and Application Systems, TERAS, in universities nationwide. The organization stated that this move is a crucial advancement in the effort to rejuvenate and improve Nigeria's higher education system.
According to Comrade Lucky Emonefe, the National President
of NANS, the TERAS initiative is commendable as it is in line with the
organization's objectives of advancing quality education, student well-being,
and academic success. The efforts of TETFUND in tackling infrastructural
challenges, improving academic standards, and fostering research and innovation
in our tertiary institutions are highly appreciated.
Emonefe encouraged all higher education institutions to
wholeheartedly adopt and execute TERAS, guaranteeing that their students reap
the rewards of this groundbreaking program.
“We encourage schools
to on-board their students and provide the necessary support for the successful
execution of TERAS,” Emonefe added. “This includes providing adequate
infrastructure, training for lecturers, and creating an enabling environment
for research and innovation to thrive.”
TERAS strives to enhance infrastructure, elevate academic
standards, foster research and innovation, and prepare students more
effectively for upcoming challenges.
“NANS believes that this initiative will significantly
impact the education sector, leading to improved academic outcomes, increased
graduate employability, and better preparedness for the workforce.
“We commend TETFUND for their commitment to transforming
tertiary education in Nigeria and look forward to a successful implementation
of TERAS. We also call on the government to provide the necessary support and
funding to ensure the sustainability of this initiative.”
