The Hong Kong International Airport has successfully resumed its normal operations, as reported by Chinese state media on Saturday. This development comes after a technical error in a security software update caused significant disruptions and outages in global computer systems for several hours.
The significant IT disruption that occurred on Friday
impacted a wide range of industries, including banking and media. Services are
gradually being restored following the resolution of the outage.
The airlines’ passenger check-in systems, which were
previously impacted by the worldwide outage, have resumed normal operations, as
reported by CCTV in a Weibo post, citing Airport Authority Hong Kong.
The airport authority announced on Friday that the affected
airlines had transitioned to manual check-in procedures, ensuring that flight
operations remained unaffected.
A total of 5,000 out of 110,000 scheduled commercial flights
were canceled globally on Friday.
