France initiated a probe into death threats against three Israeli athletes following the receipt of threatening emails by the Olympic delegation, as stated by the Paris prosecutor's office.
The Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin, brought attention to
the incident, and the investigation will be overseen by the national
anti-online hate organization. A source familiar with the matter mentioned that
there is currently no evidence linking the threats to Iran or any other foreign
nation.
Furthermore, there is no connection between this occurrence
and the unauthorized disclosure of Israeli athletes' personal information on
social media last Friday.
Israel had previously cautioned France about potential risks
posed by Iran-backed factions to Israeli athletes and visitors during the Paris
Games.
French police are giving Israeli athletes round-the-clock
personal security within the Athletes’ Village and during travel to Olympics
sites.
France has implemented a comprehensive security plan for the
Olympic Games, which commenced on Friday and will continue until August 11.
Approximately 18,000 troops have been deployed in conjunction with regular
police forces to ensure the safety and security of the event.
