The quarterfinals and semifinals of the European Championship concluded with Spain and England emerging as the victors, setting the stage for a captivating final match in Berlin on Sunday.

Regrettably, the host nation Germany, along with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal and the Netherlands, faced defeat in closely contested knockout games, marking the end of their respective campaigns. Associated Press photographers diligently captured the captivating moments both on and off the field.

In a thrilling and dramatic turn of events, Spain secured a narrow 2-1 victory over Germany during extra time. However, the match was not without its contentious moments, as German supporters vehemently called for a penalty due to an alleged handball infringement by Spanish player Marc Cucurella. Despite the host nation’s elimination, the fans remained steadfast in their passionate support throughout the game.

France emerged victorious over Portugal in a penalty shootout following a tense match that ended in a goalless draw. Subsequently, the Netherlands secured a win against Turkey, while England eliminated Switzerland in another penalty shootout, concluding the quarterfinal stage of the competition.

During the first semi-final match, Lamine Yamal, a sixteen-year-old player, gained significant attention due to his remarkable goal, which contributed to Spain’s 2-1 victory over France. In the other semi-final match, England demonstrated enhanced performance against the Netherlands, securing their place in consecutive European finals through Ollie Watkins’ dramatic goal during stoppage time.
