    Elon Musk to Deliver a Keynote Address at Opening of Shanghai's World AI Conference


    The co-founder and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the inaugural ceremony of the World AI Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai on Thursday, as per the pre-released agenda of the event.

    It was not specified on the agenda whether Musk would be attending in person or virtually. However, a well-informed source indicated that his physical presence was unlikely.

    The WAIC organizers have not yet provided a response to our inquiry regarding Musk’s attendance or keynote presentation.

    Other attendees scheduled to attend the opening include Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who is also anticipated to deliver a speech.

    In April, during a brief visit to Beijing, Musk, the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, held a met with Li. The visit provided an opportunity for Musk to engage in discussions regarding the implementation of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving technology.

    Musk has a history of involvement with WAIC, having previously provided video messages for the past two iterations of the event. His most recent in-person appearance at the event was in 2019.

    Musk’s address will coincide with the European Union’s anticipated imposition of provisional tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports..

    Tesla, the leading exporter of electric vehicles from China to Europe, has formally requested the European Commission to calculate a distinct duty rate for the company. Currently, Tesla Is subject to an additional 21% tariff as part of the group of companies that have cooperated with the ongoing investigation.

    Tesla has not yet responded to Reuters request for comment.
