According to a recent data, Nigerian vocalists, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr, and Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, have achieved the distinction of being the most streamed Nigerian artists on Spotify.
As per the data released by Spotify, a globally recognized
music streaming platform, the top 30 tracks in Nigeria for the first half of
2024 have been revealed.
The prominence of Ayra Starr was further enhanced through
her collaborative effort with Rauw Alejandro on the musical composition titled ‘Santa’.
She successfully attained the second position with her solo
hit ‘Comma’ while Tems successfully attained a third place with ‘Love Me Jeje’.
Luciano and Omah Lay’s Another Vibe secured the fourth
position, while Burna Boy and Savage’s Metro Booming Just Like Me claimed the
fifth most streamed spot, with Tyla and Tems’s No.1 coming in sixth.
During a press conference held in Lagos on Wednesday, Phiona
Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, provided an explanation
regarding the recognition of Nigerian tracks that garnered the most
international listens between January 1 and June 30, 2024.”
