This initiative by Media for Peace, supported by the AUB within the framework of its AI Observatory in Africa


The Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Media for Peace announced a joint initiative to host an Artificial Intelligence (AI) training seminar for journalists in the Sahel in Far North Cameroon.

The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), in collaboration with Media for Peace, is pleased to announce a training seminar for journalists on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the Sahel region. The seminar will be held on July 9-10, 2024, in Maroua, the capital of the Far North Region of Cameroon.

This Media for Peace initiative, supported by the AUB's AI Observatory in Africa, seeks to enhance the AI proficiency of media professionals. AI has become an indispensable tool in the modern media landscape.

The seminar, under the esteemed leadership of Mr. Midjiyawa Bakari, Governor of the Far North Region of Cameroon, will convene a distinguished gathering of training specialists, media and communication professionals, and esteemed representatives from the African Union of Broadcasting and Media for Peace.

The significance of AI in transforming journalistic practices, particularly in the areas of information gathering, fact-checking, and content personalization, has become indispensable in contemporary journalism.

The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), with its primary objective of fostering the growth and development of African media, is fully committed to the successful realization of this project.
