The Rivers State Government has made available for free, the human Papilloma Virus HPV Vaccine for young women between the ages of nine and fourteen.

The Rivers state Primary Healthcare Management Board has urged parents to take their children to any primary health care facility close to them for the purpose of administering the vaccine.

The chairman of the board, Kinikanwo Green, made this known during a media briefing in Port Harcourt.

The Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination Campaign which commenced on the 27th of May to the 31st of May 2024 with two days mop up was very successful due to the enormous support from the Rivers state government and the people of the state.

The human papilloma virus HPV vaccine helps to protect infection by the strains of HPV that were most likely to cause cervical cancer, among others.
