WhatsApp is reportedly gearing up to introduce a new AI-powered feature on the platform. WABetaInfo has reported that the company is working on a new image editing tool that will be powered by AI.

According to the report, the feature will be based on the AI algorithm that is aimed at making it easier for users to edit photos and also offers a host of editing options for users. This includes features like altering the background, refining styles and expanding the dimensions of the image.

As per the screenshots shared, the feature will appear at the top of the image-sharing page which features neatly integrated with a new icon in the form of a drop-down menu. Tapping on the new editing option will bring up the three options -- Expand, Refine and Backdrop.

The new option is placed on the left side of the ‘HD’ icon at the top and it looks like a green beckon.

About the rollout, the feature is currently in the development phase and it is expected to be introduced soon -- first in the beta release and eventually in the stable version of the messaging app. That said, there’s no details available on when exactly WhatsApp is planning to introduce the feature.

In other news, WhatsApp is also planning to introduce ‘Ask Meta’ integration within the messaging platform. The beta version 2.24.7.14 includes this feature and users can ask queries to Meta AI using the search bar at the top of the app.
