DashMe Foundation, a non-governmental organisation founded by former finance minister, Kemi Adeosun has partnered with a Grammy Award-winning singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, to renovate the popular Cheshire Home, which caters to physically challenged persons in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where it is situated, and environs.

This was done under the auspices of a project by DashMe Foundation, tagged, Reach Every Available Communal Household Nigeria Foundation.

Over the years, Cheshire, which was founded decades ago, was hit by economic hardship and could not maintain its orphanage, which became dilapidated.

In a statement sent to Society Plus, the Chairperson of the REACH Nigeria Foundation, Flobetta Halliday, stated that the facility had been renovated and would be unveiled on Friday, March 1, 2024, in the Borikiri area of Port Harcourt.

She said, “Over the years, Cheshire Home has provided succour and refuge to the physically challenged within Port Harcourt and its environs.

“In July 2023, DashMe Foundation initiated the project— the REACH Nigeria Foundation— in partnership with Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, to renovate the facility, and bring back hope to its beneficiaries.

“After seven months of hard work, it is our pleasure to have you share this transformational moment with us, as we unveil the brand new Cheshire Home.”

DashMe, founded in 2021, has been described as a fully indigenous, youth-driven social enterprise that seeks to creatively raise funds and awareness for indigenous charities that provide direct care to orphans, vulnerable children, disadvantaged youth, and victims of domestic abuse.

Within the first few months of the organisation existence, it was said to have expended over N10m on numerous life-changing projects through local charities.
