Governor Siminalayi Fubara has approved the appointment of Professor Chizindu Alikor as the Acting Chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, RSUTH, Port Harcourt.
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by the
Press Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Ednah Alete.
The appointment, according to the statement, is with
immediate effect.
Prof Alikor takes over from Dr Friday Aaron who has just
completed his five years tenure.
Our Correspondent reports that the Rivers State University
Teaching Hospital, RSUTH,is the second referral hospital in Port Harcourt,
Rivers State.
It is also a training institution for medical students of
the Rivers State University.
Chizindu Alikor, is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine
and a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist.
He was once a Senior Lecturer, University of Port Harcourt
Teaching Hospital, UPTH and Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Rivers
State.
Until his elevation as Acting Chief Medical Director,CMD,
Alikor of RSUTH, he is the Head of Department, HOD, Internal Medicine of the
institution.
He was reputed to have secured accreditation for the
Department as the HOD.
He was appointed HOD Internal Medicine of RSUTH in 2021.
