Having graduated from the prestigious Dramatic Art
department at Obafemi Awolowo University seven years ago, Bukunmi cherishes the
memories, experiences, and versatility that studying Theatre Art brought to her
life.
However, she revealed that her heart aches for the thrill of
performing live on the stage, which she considers the most cherished aspect of
her five-year educational journey.
In her heartfelt Instagram post, the actress shared her
thoughts on the challenges and rewards of being a stage performer. Bukunmi
reminisced about the immense dedication and mental fortitude required to
memorize lengthy lines from bulky play texts, like those of renowned
playwrights William Shakespeare and Wole Soyinka.
Speaking about the intricacies of live performances, she
fondly recalled the adrenaline rush of captivating the audience while staying
true to the essence of her characters.
From navigating complex blockings with fellow actors to
ensuring her voice reaches the farthest seat in the theater without resorting
to shouting, Bukunmi highlighted the artistry and skill required to deliver a
captivating performance.
The actress also expressed her love for the various elements
of theatre, including the disciplined dancing, the harmonious singing as part
of an orchestra, and the enchanting sounds of Bata drums and sekere during
rehearsals.
Furthermore, she acknowledged the importance of
understanding different intonations, gestures, and character traits that bring
her roles to life, making the experience on stage all the more immersive.
