Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti has finally broken his silence after being released from police custody where he has been for over a week.

Grammy-nominated afrobeat artist, Seun Kuti has spoken up for the first time since his release from police detention.

Seun Kuti had been held at the State Criminal, Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Panti, Yaba, Lagos, following allegations of assaulting a police officer, an incident that gained widespread attention due to a viral video.

Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, Kuti’s lawyer, clarified that the delay in securing his bail was not due to a court hearing failure, but rather a procedural administrative process.

Finally, on Tuesday night, the singer was released from custody, prompting him to take to his official Instagram account to express his gratitude.

He acknowledges the pivotal role played by his legal team, including prominent lawyers such as Femi Falana (SAN), Olumide Fisika (SAN), Kayode Adegoke (SAN), Barrister Ogunlana, and Ade Ademiluyi, attributing his freedom and sanity to their efforts.
