The inaugural flight conveyed 35 passengers from Kano State
and disembarked them at the MMA2. According to Leadership reports, the airline
had earlier secured four EMB-145LRs aircraft, which cost an average of
$2,395,000 (N1.09 billion) for one, in preparation for the commencement of
operations.
Rano Air will offer flight services between Lagos and Abuja,
as well as to Kano, Maiduguri, and Sokoto. Additionally, the airline will be
the first to offer a direct connection from Maiduguri to Kano, which is a great
relief to passengers who previously had to go through many inconveniences to
reach their destinations.
As a tradition, the aircraft on arrival at the MMA2 Apron
was greeted with a water cannon. This symbolic act could be interpreted as a
welcoming blessing for the safety of flight operations and an act of baptism
into the trade. The pilot, Captain Moses Egbekun, was excited about the warm
reception put together by the management of Bi-Courtney.
For its first flight, Rano Air used a 50-seater commercial
aircraft to convey passengers from Kano, and there were no reports of any
hitches or delays. Travelers can now look forward to a more comfortable,
faster, and safe aviation experience with Rano Air.
In another report, Legit.ng revealed that Delta Airlines has
started selling tickets to passengers in Nigeria in US dollars. This move is to
stop the continuous piling up of the airline’s trapped funds in the country. It
was reported that Nigeria is the most indebted country to foreign airlines,
with $551 million trapped there, according to the International Air Transport
Association (IATA).
In summary, the commencement of operations by Rano Air is a
welcome development in Nigeria’s aviation industry and will provide more
options for travelers. It is hoped that the airline will maintain high
standards and offer quality services to passengers.
