Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, on Sunday 23 April 2023, held a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr Sameh Shoukry, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to discuss developments in the situation in Sudan.

Both sides emphasized the imperative of immediate ceasefire and return to the path of dialogue and negotiation. They also called on the conflicting parties to put the interests of the Sudanese people first and adhere to the humanitarian truce to ensure delivery of assistance and evacuation of the injured and stranded, particularly in the light of the critical humanitarian conditions the country is going through.

The Secretary-General praised the good offices efforts of the OIC Member States, including the important role being played by the Arab Republic of Egypt to find a solution to the Sudanese crisis.
