Two Nigerian women, Folorunso Alakija and Hajia Bola Shagaya, has been ranked among Africa's wealthiest women for 2022.
The list which is dominated by South Africa, included people
who are worth at least $10 million and their financial muscles make them
influential figures in society.
Ngina Kenyatta, popularly known as “Mama Ngina”, the former First Lady of Kenya is the only Kenyan woman on the list. Ngina is the widow of Kenya’s first president, Jomo Kenyatta, mother of Uhuru Kenyatta, the incumbent president of Kenya.
South Africa, with six women, dominated the list of wealthiest women in Africa.
Other countries in the least are Angolan who happens to be the richest and also a Kenyan worth $1 billion.
Isabel Dos Santos is the richest woman in Africa with an estimated net worth of $2.2 billion and the daughter of the famous Angolan president Jose Eduardo Dos Santos.
Today she owns several companies and businesses, her first
business venture was on the opening of her Miami Beach in 1997.
She owns a stake in different companies which includes: Unitel S.A, Zon Multimedia, Banco Espirito Santo, Banco Portugues de Investimentos, and Energias de Portugal.
Folorunso Alakija, a Nigerian billionaire businesswoman and philanthropist has been named the 2nd richest woman in Africa.
According to Forbes, an American business magazine owned by
Integrated Whale Media Investments and the Forbes family Alakija is worth over
$1 billion and has held the title of the richest woman in Nigeria for years.
Born on July 15, 1951 at Ikorodu in Lagos State, Alakija is
also the founder and managing director of a firm called Rose of Sharon.
In the list of 10 Africa’s wealthiest women for 2022,
Alakija was second behind Isabel Dos Santos of Angola whose worth is $2.2
billion.
Ngina Kenyatta popularly known as “Mama Ngina” has an estimated net worth of $1 billion. She was born in Kenya on 24 June 1933.
Kenyatta is the mother of Uhuru Kenyatta the current
president of Kenya, the former first lady of Kenya, and the widow of the first
president of Kenya.
Currently, Mama Ngina is in charge of the family’s company, which includes banking, farming, education, insurance, manufacturing, and real estate.
Hajia Bola Hajaya, a businesswoman and fashion enthusiast whose net worth is estimated to be about $1 billion is another Nigerian woman on the list dominated mostly by South Africa.
Alakija’s money came from oil and gas, the fashion printing
industry, and real estate.
Hajaya is also the chief executive officer of Bolmus group of and the founder of Voyage oil.
Wendy Appelbaum is the daughter of South African billionaire Sir Donald Gordon. She is one of the top 10 richest women in Africa and currently the richest woman in South Africa with an estimated net worth of $152 million
She started her career in her father’s real estate company
as a director and currently, she owns Demorgenzon wine estate.
Wendy won several accolades for her first vintage wine
called Chenin Blanc for its unique taste.
Wendy Ackerman with an estimated net worth of $111.5 million is one of the richest women in Africa and the second richest woman in South Africa.
Ackerman is the non-executive director of a retail
company(pick and pay holdings limited) founded by her husband and a South
African retail tycoon.
Ackerman was born in cape town south Africa and her business
interest is mainly centered on retail.

Sharon Wapnick is one of the richest women in Africa with an

Wapnicks father’s wealth and influence made people often
