Following their defeat to Burnley in the
Premier League, Everton are now close to the relegation waters putting Frank
Lampard into serious pressure with nine games to end the season.
There have been reports making waves that
Victor Anichebe who made his name at Everton called for the sacking of Frank
Lampard.
The Nigerian footballer has now cleared the
air on the reports claiming that he only called for the mentality of the
players to be changed.
Victor Anichebe's reaction to Frank
Lampard's reports “I wasn’t even gonna speak on this but I genuinely can’t
stand some media. I didn’t call for Lampard to be sacked. “I posted the same
Allardyce picture weeks ago as I find him on the phone funny because any team
that’s in trouble he gets linked to [those who follow me know this already]
anyway, the reactions were funny [e.g rather go down with dignity] so I posted
it again.
“Then I said something needs to change. How
does that mean that Lamps should be sacked? Change of mentality, training
change, change of style. I’m not a manager, how do I know?.''
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how
Ifeanyi Udeze stated emphatically that Austin Eguavoen was not fully in charge
of the Super Eagles of Nigeria during his three-month reign before being fired.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)
hired Austin Eguavoen in December 2021 on interim capacity after sacking Gernot
Rohr and was given the task of leading the Super Eagles to AFCON.
Eguavoen and his Super Eagles players
started their campaign at the 2021 AFCON on an impressive note winning their
first three games in the tournament. Their journey in the 2021 African Cup of
Nations came to an end in the round of 16 when they were defeated 1-0 by
Tunisia.
