The fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic is slowly fading away in Nigeria, as the country, on Monday, resgistered two new infections across two states of the federation, Kaduna and River state both had one case each.

Giving an update on the outbreak of the disease via its Facebook post, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC said the new infections raised the total number to 254,659.

It said the two cases on Monday, showed another decline from the 17 registered on Sunday.

No report from Lagos and FCT for the past 3 and 2 days respectively, NCDC said.

The health officials stated that the pandemic has claimed 3,142 lives across the country since the outbreak in 2020. No COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, making it seventh consecutive days without fatality recorded.

NCDC disclosed that seven patients were discharged after recovering from the infection, this raised the total number of recoveries to 249,206.

Active COVID-19 cases further dropped from 2,316 it was on Sunday  to 2,311 on Monday.

NCDC added that 5 states with zero cases resported: Bayelsa, Cross River, Kano, Nasarawa, and Sokoto.
