Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a stunning brace for Barcelona as Xavi's men recorded a famous win over Real Madrid in the El Clasico on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The former Arsenal striker also entered his name in the history books. Barcelona humiliated Real Madrid with a 4-0 win over the La Liga giants at the Bernabeu.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang inspired Xavi's Barcelona to one of the most memorable wins over arch-rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga El Clasico on Sunday at the famous Santiago Bernabeu. Aubameyang, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal, netted a sensational brace to enter his name in El Clasico record books. The Barcelona striker managed to head in the opener for the visitors through a sublime cross from French winger Dembele.

After scoring the all-important opener for the Catalan giants in the 29th minute of the game, the Gabon striker completed his brace in the 51st minute as Barcelona registered a famous win over bitter rivals Real Madrid in their backyard.

Rewriting history in the recently concluded El Clasico on Sunday at the Bernabeu, Aubameyang became the first player of the 21st century to score five goals against Real Madrid in five back-to-back matches.

The 2015 African Footballer of the Year is also the first player to get directly involved in three goals on his Clasico debut in the 21st century. Before completing the 4-0 rout of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, the 32-year-old came up with a crucial assist for Ferran Torres in the 47th minute of the game. The former Arsenal star was later replaced by Netherlands superstar Memphis Depay in the 71st minute.

Madrid missed the services of their talismanic striker Karim Benzema and defender Ferland Mendy in the Clasico encounter at the Bernabeu. Despite suffering an embarrassing defeat at the hands of rivals Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti's Madrid are at the top of the La Liga standings. Madrid have bagged 66 points from 29 matches while their Clasico rivals Barcelona have picked up 54 points from 28 matches.

Barcelona are three points behind second-placed Sevilla in the La Liga standings. La Liga holders Atletico Madrid are ranked fourth with 54 points from 29 matches in the Spanish top flight this season.
