Tuesday’s updates showed that the new
confirmed cases have increased the country's infection to 254,352.
The latest data released by the Nigeria Centre
for Disease Control NCDC on Tuesday, which indicates a decrease in the figure
of newly confirmed cases, also confirmed that no death was recorded in the past
24 hours.
It added that 53 COVID-19 patients had
recovered over the past 24 hours and had been discharged from various hospitals
across the country.
While active cases in Nigeria dropped by 26
from 20,390, it was the previous day. Total active cases now stands at 20,364.
NCDC noted that 3,142 people had lost their lives to the virus since its outbreak in the country on February 27, 2020, while 230,846 people have recovered and been discharged.
A breakdown of Tuesday’s report showed that
Lagos, the hardest-hit state, recorded the highest number of new positive
samples with 12 cases, followed by Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory reported
8 cases and Katsina, the northern state reported 5 cases.
While the northern state and the second
largest city in Nigeria, Kano and Rivers, the Niger Delta region of southern
Nigeria reported 1 cases each.
NCDC added that two states; Sokoto and Cross River reported zero cases of the virus on Tuesday.
