Nigeria's number of daily confirmed COVID-19
infections dropped on Friday, from 1,139 cases it was the previous day.
Since February 27, 2020, when Nigeria's first
COVID-19 case was confirmed, 242,341 infection cases have been registered,
including 3031 deaths related to COVID-19.
This was contained in a bulletin released by
the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) early Saturday morning.
According to the bulletin, Lagos state, the
epicentre of the disease in the country, recorded over half of the new cases – with 550 cases
while 14 other states of the nation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
accounted for the rest.
The breakdown as follows: Lagos-550, Oyo-87, FCT-69,
Kwara-31, Akwa Ibom-22, Bauchi-19, Ekiti-16, Delta-11, Kaduna-10, Ogun-3, Anambra-3,
Plateau-2, Bayelsa-2, Nasarawa-1, Katsina-1 and Jigawa-1.
NCDC added total recoveries is over 88.5 percent
of total confirmed infections. With 293 patients discharge on Friday, total recoveries
rose to 214,296.
The health officials further stated that todays
report includes 11 cases reported in Delta state on 30th (5), and 31st (6)
December 2021.
It added that the trio Osun, Ondo and Sokoto reported that no cases were recorded on Friday.
