Nigeria health officials reported less than 500 new COVID-19 cases for the seventh straight day.

The nation confirmed 301 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday, which comes after officials reported 267 cases on Saturday. While the number of active cases slightly increased to 23,774 from 23,768 it was the previous day.

The new cases which was recorded in nine states and the Federal Capital Territory on Sunday indicated an increase from the 267 cases reported the previous day.

The nation recorded eight additional deaths on Sunday, raising the total death tally in Nigeria to 3,103.

NCDC noted that the 8 fatalities were backlog of deaths  reported in Lagos state.

According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC’s data, the nation deemed 287 more cases of the disease to be resolved as of Sunday, this raised Nigeria’s number of recovered patients up to 224,052.

Sunday's report brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Nigeria to 250,929, including deaths and recoveries.

Where Are The New COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria?

In the southwestern state and the epicentre of coronavirus in Nigeria, officials reported 175 new cases in Lagos. These were  reported between 1st - 15th January, NCDC said.

Followed by 42 new cases in Ondo, 23 cases in Osun, 21 cases in the Niger Delta region of southern Nigeria, Rivers state and 16 cases were reported in north central Nigeria, Nasarawa state.

Other states  with new cases are Oyo-8, Gombe-7, Kaduna-7. FCT-1 and Kano-1.

The health officials added that Abia, Bauchi, Plateau, and Sokoto States reported zero cases of the disease on Sunday.
