The Nigeria Center for
Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this via its official Facebook page.
It stated that the 54 new
cases were from 8 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
NCDC also disclosed that 24 people were successfully treated and discharged on Saturday.
There were 4,160
active cases in hospital, an overnight increase of 30.
The latest update from
the health officials revealed that Lagos topped the list – recorded 25 cases,
while Oyo, FCT, Kwara and Rivers confirmed 11, 6, 3 and 3 infections respectively.
Others include Bauchi-2,
Delta-2, Kano-1 and Ogun-1.
NCDC added that Ekiti,
Gombe, Ondo, Osun, Plateau, and Sokoto States reported no cases of the virus in
the last 24 hours.
Today’s report
includes 2 cases reported from Delta State on 3rd (1) and 4th (1) December.
And 1 case reported
from Kano State on 3rd (1) and 4th (0) December, NCDC said.
The total number of
people who have contracted the virus in Nigeria has now risen to 214,567, out
of which 207,427 people have recovered and have been discharged. And 2,980
people have lost their lives to the coronavirus disease since February 27 last
year.
