Nigeria health officials are reporting 404 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

This is the lowest number of daily cases reported since Tuesday December 14 when the country logged 730 new infections.

For comparison, last Wednesday saw 1,424 new cases, Thursday saw 1,051 cases, Friday saw 1,584 cases and the next day, Saturday saw 828 cases.

The death toll in the country has risen to 2,985 as one more patients were reported to have lost his live to coronavirus, according to a report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC on Sunday.

Meanwhile, 15 Nigeria residents were reported to have recovered from COVID-19 in past 24 hours. As a result,  resolved coronavirus cases in the country moved up to 211,537.

Active cases in Nigeria now stand at 9,383 — down from the previous day when it was at 8,977.

The report revealed that Sunday’s new cases were spread across 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the report, 122 cases were recorded in Oyo, 84 in FCT, 52 in Lagos and 51 in Kaduna.

Imo reported 20 cases, Delta had 18, Kano had 17, Kwara had 16, Rivers had 11, Enugu had 10, Ogun had 2 and Edo had 1.

NCDC noted today’s report includes zero case reported from Bauchi, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun and Plateau states

The health officials stated that today’s report brings the total number of lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 223,887 including deaths and recoveries.
