Nigeria reported 8 coronavirus-related deaths late Thursday compared with 11 the day before, the health officials said, while the daily tally of new infections rose to 631 from 582 recorded the previous day.

The data shared by the Nigeria Center  for Disease Control NCDC shows that the country saw a total of  249 patients discharged after recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.

The total active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria have now risen to 11,862, including 329 new active cases recorded on Thursday, the data showed.

According to the updates released by the NCDC, the total number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Nigeria reached 193,644. Moreover, the number of people who recovered and were discharged from hospital after contracting the virus rose to 179,249, while the number of deceased was equal to 2,488.

The health officials noted that the additional positive samples of coronavirus were recorded in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The breakdown released as follows Lagos-172, Oyo-93, Rivers-72, Edo-63, Kastina-29, Abia-26, FCT-23, Kano-23, Bayelsa-20, Ogun-20, Ekiti-18, Anambra-16, Delta-16, Osun-14, Imo-11, Benue-6, Enugu-4, Jigawa-2, Niger-2 and Nasarawa-1.

While Borno, Ondo, Sokoto, and Zamfara reported no cases.
