Nigeria health officials confirmed 459 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory, which comes a day after officials reported 964 cases.

Today’s report brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Nigeria to 195,511 including deaths and recoveries.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control disclosed this via its official website during the daily COVID-19 update.

Of the new infections reported Sunday, 185 cases were in Lagos, 38 cases each in Abia and Oyo, 33 cases each in Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

Others states as follows Osun-24, Ekiti-23, Benue-15, Kwara-14, Kano-12, Delta-10, FCT-10, Edo-9, Kaduna-5, Ogun-3, Kastina-2, Nasarawa-2, Rivers-2 and Bayelsa-1.

Plateau and Sokoto are the only two states with no COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday.

The total active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria further dropped significantly to 8,429 from 10,067 it was  the previous day.

NCDC also recorded 30 new deaths on Sunday, which includes backlog of 23 deaths reported for Lagos State for 3rd September, 2021. The figures pushed the deaths tally in the nation to 2552.

The nation deemed 2,066 more cases of the disease to be resolved as of Sunday, raising Nigeria’s number of recovered patients up to 184,529.
