Another 379 Nigeria residents tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday as the country continues  its fight against third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in an update on its official website on Monday noted that the the country’s total infection figure has risen to 195,890.

A total of 184,882 coronavirus cases are considered resolved, which is up by 353 on Monday.

The death toll in the country has risen to 2,556 as four more deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.

Total active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria slightly increased to 8,452 from 8,429 it was the previous day.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC labs completed about 104,309 COVID-19 tests since last week Monday. A total of 2,884,034 COVID-19 tests have been processed since the start of the pandemic.

According to the health officials, the new infections were recorded across 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A breakdown of the NCDC update shows that Lagos state reported 138 cases, River came second with 44 cases and FCT in third place with 26 cases.

While Ekiti, Oyo and Akwa-Ibom states reported 23, 22 and 18 cases respectively.

Others states with new infections are Adamawa-17, Delta-17, Anambra-15, Edo-14, Ogun-13, Bayelsa-8, Niger-7, Kwara-6, Gombe-5, Plateau-4, Kaduna-1 and Kano-1.

NCDC noted that today's report includes 3 deaths and 6 discharges from Lagos on 5th September 2021

Also stated that zero cases were recorded from Nasarawa, Ondo, Osun, and Sokoto states.
