According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC’s
update for Sept. 3rd, the new cases were confirmed in 20 states and the Federal Capital
Territory (FCT).
NCDC report indicated that the 444 additional cases
represented a decrease in infections from the 631 cases reported from 19 states
and FCT on Sept. 2 with 11 deaths.
The data from the NCDC’s official Facebook page shows that within
a 24 hour period, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Oyo and Rivers reported 71, 49, 49, 49
and 38 respectively.
The total active cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria further increased
to 11,914 .
Others states with new infections are Kaduna-21, Ekiti-20, FCT-19,
Kastina-19, Anambra-17, Delta-16, Kano-16, Bauchi-14, Ogun-11, Bayelsa-9, Benue-9,
Cross River-7, Nasarawa-5, Jigawa-2, Zamfara-2 and Enugu-1.
NCDC noted that today’s report includes backlog of 19 cases
reported for Kastina State from 2nd (16), and 3rd (3) September, 2021.
Three States with zero cases reported: Ondo, Osun, and Sokoto.
It disclosed that 430 patients were discharged after
recovering from the infection, bringing the total number of recoveries to 179,679.
The report from the health officials
also shows that the fatality toll now stands at 2,495, as additional 7 COVID-19
patients lost thier lives to the disease in the last 24 hours.
