Nigeria’s health officials reported one death, the lowest single-day record in weeks and 460 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in 13 states and the Federal Capital Territory on Monday.

The nationwide total of COVID-19 cases now stands at 191,805 since the start of the pandemic, according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC.

One death recorded in the past 24 hours raised fatalities in the country to 2,455

Two hundred and nine patients were discharged after recovering from the virus, this pushed the number of people who have recovered so far to 178,492.

Active cases further increased from 10,608 to 10,858 from the previous day.

About 51,891 additional tests were completed in one week. Nigeria has now completed a total of 2,779,725 tests since the pandemic outbreak in the country.

The data provided by the NCDC indicated that Rivers state with 164 infections registered the highest number of cases on Monday, Lagos, which came second recorded 139 cases and Edo in third position reported 61 cases.

Others states with new infections on Monday are FCT-37, Bayelsa-20, Oyo-14, Plateau-7, Ogun-6, Anambra-4, Benue-4, Enugu-2, Cross River-1, and Kaduna-1.

NCDC also added that today’s report includes six states -Brono, Ekiti, Nasarawa, Osun, Ondo and Sokoto with zero cases reported.
