Nigeria logged 422 new coronavirus cases on Monday in 8 states and the Federal Capital Territory. With this, the tally of COVID-19 cases in the West Africa country has reached 178,508.

The death toll in the nation stands at 2,192 as 5 more deaths linked to the disease were recorded.

Meanwhile, 219 COVID-19 patients were reported to have recovered from virus on Monday, which pushed the nation’s total recoveries to 165,982.

Data from the health officials showed that the number of active cases moved up to 10,324 increased by 198 from the previous day.

According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC about 46,869 tests were processed in the last one week. A total of 2,589,130 tests have been completed since the start of the pandemic.

Of the 422 new cases, 190 were found in Lagos, 86 in Rivers, 86 in Ogun, 22 in Oyo and 20 in FCT.

Also Kwara reported 7 cases, Edo had 5, Abia had 4 and Bayelsa reported 3 cases.

Today’s report includes nine states with zero cases reported: Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Kaduna, Kano, Nasarawa, Ondo, Sound, Plateau and Sokoto.
