Nigeria registered 362 new COVID-19 cases and 93 deaths on Sunday, the health official announced - the highest number of deaths in the country since the start of the pandemic.

Following the confirmation of 362 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria, the coronavirus infections toll rose to 191,345.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed on its verified Facebook page on Sunday.

NCDC also said that the death toll from the pandemic now stand at 2,454, after having registered 93 new deaths over the past 24 hours, which include a backlog of deaths reported for Lagos State.

While a total number of 178,283 coronavirus patients have recovered and discharged in the country, including 236 recoveries recorded on Sunday, as active case increased from 10,575 to 10,608 from the previous day

The health officials said that the 362 new cases were reported in 14 states and the FCT.

The breakdown as follows Lagos-200, Oyo-33, Kwara-30, Akwa Ibom-24, Ogun-17, Delta-15, Ekiti-15, Plateau-7, Rivers-7, FCT-5, Anambra-3, Edo-3, Bayelsa-1, Kaduna-1 and Kano-1.

Today’s report includes a backlog of cases reported for Delta State from 26th (2), 27th (4), and 28th (9) August 2021 according to the health officials.

NCDC added that four states -Nasarawa, Ondo, Osun, and Sokoto reported zero case.
