Nigeria reported 471 new COVID-19 cases and 2 more deaths related to the virus on Sunday.

With the new update, the tally of COVID-19 infections in Nigeria reached 178,086 and COVID-19 death toll stands at 2,187

About 291 people have also recovered from the virus and discharged, taking the total recoveries to 165,763.

Data from the health officials further showed that the number of active cases moved up to 10,126, increased by 178 from the previous day.

The 471 new cases was identified in 12 and the Federal Capital Territory, according to an update by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC late Sunday.

Lagos, Akwa-Ibom, Ondo and Oyo recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Sunday, with 219, 102, 37 and 33 cases respectively.

Others states affected on Sunday are Kwara-19, Rivers-16, Ekiti-15, Delta-14, Ogun-7, FCT-5, Niger-2, Edo-1 and Katsina-1.

While Gombe, Kano, Osun, Plateau, Sokoto and Kaduna among the 6 states with zero cases.
