City released their Sergio Aguero-inspired home kit earlier
this month, and wore it for the first time in the pre-season friendly against
Preston this month.
Now, the predominantly white away kit has been released,
with a colourful theme on the logos of City, Puma and shirt sponsors Etihad.
The Puma shirt is white, with blue trims on the sleeves and
around the neck. The City logo features iridescent colours from blue to pink,
described in 'leaked' information as 'ocean depths'.
The Puma logo and Etihad logo are also in the iridescent
colour scheme, as are the sleeve sponsors Nexen Tyres.
This shirt, which will serve as the designated 'light'
change strip, is produced with a special Dope Dye manufacturing process to
reduce water consumption, the new kit pays tribute to a partnership with the
Club’s global charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, focused on using football to
raise awareness of and access to safe water across the world.
The 'Cityzens Giving' logo features on the inside of the collar, while the design features water droplets throughout to highlight the safe water program and Cityzens Giving. The iridescent colours are said to resemble the effect of light breaking through water droplets.
In connection with the kit launch, Puma have partnered with
Cityzens Giving and the City's Official Water Technology Partner Xylem to
deliver a new global program, to provide football-based education on water,
sanitation and hygiene, and clean water access for communities in need.
Globally, 1 in 3 people worldwide lack access to safe
drinking water, so City and Puma say the ambition is to reach over 10,000 young
people in three continents, focusing on Manchester, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires and
Mumbai. The program has already started with the creation of a clean water tower
in Mumbai, producing a safe and long-term supply of fresh drinking water for
1,800 people per day.
Tom Pitchon, Director of City Football Foundation said: “We
are proud to be able to use the Club’s Away kit to raise awareness of water
issues around the world, creating a platform to provide much needed support for
communities in need.
"Empowering our global network of Young Leaders to use
football as a platform to tackle social issues in their communities is at the
heart of what Cityzens Giving does and the work we are embarking on with our
partners Puma and Xylem will help to enhance the lives of thousands of people
around the world.
"Our playing kit is an expression of what our Club
stands for and we are delighted that this season’s kit will be used to highlight
the vital issue of clean water access.”
The new kit will be available from Thursday July 29.
