Faruq, a first-class monarch, was appointed emir on December
14, 2017, following the transition of his father, Muhammad Kabir Umar (CON).
A letter of appointment signed by Makinde announced his
appointment as 5th Chancellor of LAUTECH.
The governor said the University would be happy to benefit
from his rich experience as a first-class administrator, community leader and
monarch.
The letter read in part: “I wish to inform Your Royal
Highness of your appointment as Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of
Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
“While warmly congratulating Your Royal Highness on this
well-deserved appointment, which is a call to serve humanity, the Oyo State
government expects the University to benefit from your rich knowledge and your
exhibition for the realization of the University’s unique vision. “
The Emir, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from
Bayero University in Kano, has held various positions in the state and in the
federal civil service.
He rose to the post of Federal Permanent Secretary and
served at various times as Permanent Secretary, special duties in the
Presidency; Ministry of Youth Development; Development of water resources and
solid minerals and retired after 34 years of service.
